BCIC accepting grant applications in hopes of turning Brownsville into destination city

BROWNSVILLE, TX - The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation has opened its doors to accept applications for capital, community and promotional event projects to turn Brownsville into destination city.

Combined with the capital, promotional and community projects, a total of $900,000 is available to invest in the community to spark economic development in the city.

The BCIC allowed project applications in the past that were positive outcomes for the city.

"We have close to 60 million that has been invested back into the community through these types of projects,” said BCIC Outreach Coordinator Josh Mejia. “Both the capital project grants and
the promotion and community event grants."

Each applicant at the moment can only request up to $5,000 for promotion and community event grants.

To apply for funding assistance, go to bcic.us and click on the funding tab.

The promotion and community grant applications are due Dec. 20 and the capital project grant applications are due Jan. 3.
